This semester after a year as a General Studies student at ECC I decided to make the switch to Information Technology. I am excited to specialize in Cyber Security and figure out if I can make this into my future career.
My teacher Ms. Kowalski seems to be interested in setting us up for careers as well. It's good to know the main focus is setting us up for obtaining jobs after college and getting our foot in the door for a career. As someone who has struggled with the thought of their future and had to make a tough decision as to what to declare as my major. Its good that I have a teacher who seems to want to help make sure im prepared for the future.
I also am glad that the course is largely set up online. Blackboard is a very helpful tool and makes it easy to stay up to date on whats due and the class schedule. She's also setup links to different websites with info to help us learn outside of class, and even posted a couple cool deals we can get with our college email. The discussion board is also a neat way to share things with the teacher and classmates. She also has stressed checking out our ECC emails multiple times a week to check for internships and messages from the school and professors. I do hope that we begin to learn more about the technical side of Information Technology as im all very new to this. I don't have much experience besides tinkering with my own computers so I hope im able to gain more knowledge.
Overall im liking the class alot so far it seems very promising. Im excited to learn more about IT and further my knowledge and make the first steps in my career.
